State-owned PV Power, a subsidiary of Petrovietnam, has announced plans to build 1,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Vietnam by 2035. The first DC fast charging station, with a capacity of 100-120 kW, is set to open in Hanoi this month, with two more planned for the capital.

As part of the agreement, PV Power will secure suitable locations and provide the necessary infrastructure, including the electrical supply. Each of their DC charging stations will feature two connections capable of delivering up to 60 kW per port, with a total charging capacity of 120 kW.

Meanwhile, other companies are also vying to establish Vietnam's largest EV charging network. V-Green, a company launched by VinFast founder Pham Nhat Vuong, plans to invest over $400 million in constructing 150,000 charging stations across the country within the next two years. Porsche has also partnered with Charge+ to develop its own charging infrastructure in Vietnam.

Vietnam has set ambitious goals for electrification: all buses are to be electric by 2025, all taxis by 2030, and all private vehicles by 2050.
